j solomon takes the finding records stage — an indie rock artist from rural Pennsylvania, now based in Los Angeles.

introduce yourself please.

i am j solomon, i'm an indie rock artist from Pennsylvania, now based in Los Angeles.

if you had to describe your music using only elements from nature, which ones would you choose?

i think it would be that weird juxtaposition of a mild, warm day that transforms into a huge thunderstorm. i really love that quick switch from a pretty, ethereal feeling to a huge intense moment.

what aspect do you love the most about your hometown, community or culture?

i grew up in a smaller, rural town in Pennsylvania surrounded by nature. i love the smell of the grass and the deer and foxes and the hot, humid rains in the summers. early on, i was inspired by the big green fields and forests that i grew up in, but as i grew up, i became more and more interested in the bigger cities like Philadelphia or New York City that were only a drive away.

could you recommend a landmark or a venue from your hometown that you wish your fans could check out?

the first real stage i ever performed on was at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia. from the ages of 17-19, i performed at the open mic there pretty much weekly, and i owe a lot of my early formative music experiences to that venue.

if you could perform at any location, real or fictional, where would it be?

i have this funny idea of one day trying to route a tour of high school football stadiums around the United States. like putting a 360 stage on the 50 yard line and having fans in the bleachers. feels really cool and ironic.

if you were able to start all over from the beginning, which genre of music would you like to try?

i honestly think i'd always gravitate towards indie rock and folk music, but in another life i wish i would've started a band when i was younger instead of being a solo artist.

any closing words?

thanks so much for tuning in and thanks to the folks at goyo club for the opportunity! lots more coming from me soon so keep an ear out for new music and hopefully i'll be traveling to your town soon for a show :)
